This manual is typically used in Year 1 and above. It can also be used with individual students or small groups in higher grades for remedial work on specific skills. The manual contains 35 weeks of daily, fast paced instruction covering all of the early, basic and advanced phonemic awareness skills. When these lessons are taught consistently each day with explicit teacher modelling and scaffolded support, teachers see improvement in students’ reading, spelling, and writing, as they learn to isolate, recognise and manipulate the sounds in words.
