Join us for a two-day professional learning and community-building event designed specifically for FNQ school leaders. Day 1 brings internationally renowned education expert Dr Doug Fisher to explore the research and practice behind student belonging and engagement. Day 2 shifts focus to the science of behaviour and the future of your QASSP branch - with psychologist Phil Slade unpacking the neuroscience of student behaviour, followed by QASSP President Pat Murphy leading focused working sessions to shape the advocacy and strategic direction of your branch community.

Day 1 - An introduction to Belonging and Engagement
A full-day masterclass exploring the relationship between
belonging, engagement, and student outcomes, delivered
by globally recognised education researcher Dr Doug
Fisher. This session equips leaders with
practical, evidence-based strategies to build school cultures
where every student feels connected, valued, and
motivated.

Day 2, Part 1 - The Behaviour Mistake
Drawing on neuroscience and behavioural science,
psychologist and behavioural economist Phil Slade explores
what we know about student motivation, emotional
dysregulation, and teacher burnout. Phil provides leaders
with a practical, psychologically informed framework for
understanding behaviour and creating emotionally safer,
more connected learning environments.
Day 2, Part 2
QASSP President Pat Murphy leads the group in
strengthening your branch community — exploring what
makes branches thrive, shaping the strategic and advocacy
direction of both your branch and QASSP, and giving every
leader a direct voice in what comes next for their
community and the profession.
